Day 1 | #UNBLEMISHChallenge

Posted on

I started the #UNBLEMISHChallenge so that I could document and review the Rodan and Fields UNBLEMISH Regimen and see if it helps my acne. If you haven’t read my intro to the new challenge – read it here. But we are already on our way! First day of using the products! exciting The UNBLEMISH Regimen is a three (four) step regimen – I followed the regimen described in the booklet that came with the regimen. This is the morning of Day 1 –  How did we do?

1. UNBLEMISH Acne Treatment Sulfur Wash – This step is by far my favourite of them all. Its so soothing, cooling and very gentle. Its very similar to a light clay mask but a bit more gel like. When you put it on and massage for 30-60 seconds, it feels so good! If your face is just feeling gross and pimply, this is the best thing! I tried it as a mask as well (at night) – left it on for 10 minutes and thats when I got a little bit of the sulfur smell but other than that it has almost no smell. It does not foam or soap up at all – even though its technically the cleanser step of the regimen. After massaging, I washed it off and my skin just felt more calm and the excess oil was gone – my skin was normal – not dry at all. This is a winner!!

2. UNBLEMISH Clarifying Toner – After the clay sulfur wash – followed up with the clarifying toner on a cotton pad. It has a very light fresh fragrance and feels very nice on the skin. No burning, but there was a strong pepperminty feeling around my nose. Similar to a pore cleaning toner. It says to leave it to dry for 5 minutes before proceeding to the treatment. Overall, I really liked this step. It feels cooling and refreshing but at the same time like its treating my skin and cleaning out pores.

3. UNBLEMISH Dual Intensive Acne Treatment – This step was really cool! Its a two pump system – you pump from one side and then the other and mix the two sides – then lightly massage into the skin. This is the benzoyl peroxide part – I was surprised that I enjoyed it. I’ve tried benzoyl peroxide products before many times and I hate that white tooth paste heavy feel on the skin – I found my skin became sensitive after using products with benzoyl peroxide. But not this treatment. First off, it is a very very light gel – similar to indeed labs hydraluron, and it feels nice on the skin. It didn’t linger or feel like I had anything on. Take note not to use nice coloured towels though – it will bleach them!! (I learned this the hard way). Same with your pillow case. 🙂

4. SOOTHE Mineral Sunscreen – Immidiately after the acne treatment, I put on the sunscreen. Its a basic mineral sunscreen – similar to the Clarins Mineral Sunscreen. Its a white liquid sunscreen – blends in well and doesn’t feel greasy at all.

I noticed right away that my skin felt calmer and less oily. Its a good feeling! I noticed a huge difference in the oiliness of my skin! Normally, by lunch time, my skin is super oily! But after using the regimen for just one day – my skin looked normal! I took a selfie:

Excuse the smoochy photo – but you can totally tell the difference in my skin. Barely any oil – just a little bit between my eyebrows. And by the time I washed off my makeup at the end of the day, my skin looked normal – no oil slick. For reference, I was also wearing a hydrating foundation – Chanel Vitalumiere, and no powder.

So far I love it! And I want to keep using it day and night but I am following the regimen – So first week is just Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the mornings. So in between I am just using my regular skincare. I will do a post about it as well – its all drugstore! Next #UNBLEMISHChallenge post is a full week into the regimen. 🙂

Stay tuned,
