A quick and unplanned Sephora trip later, I came out with the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Mascara. Truthfully, I needed a new mascara; I’ve shamefully been using the Guerlain mascara since my review a few months back, which is a bit longer than you should keep mascara. I grabbed this one since it was one of the recommended mascaras at Sephora, but also because I have been slowly working through the MJ line. The makeup is really high performance and I absolutely love the Perfection Powder – it absolutely erases pores. So I thought I would give this one a try. After about a week of everyday use, I was ready to give my word on this one.
First impression: It smells like drugstore mascara and not in a good way. The formula was surprisingly dry, like it’s been opened for at least 6 months. As I began to put on the first coat of mascara, it was barely noticible until there was a massive clump that came out of nowhere. The formula is buildable but you can go from “natural” to Halloween spider lash faster than you think. I counted less than 3 full layers.
Throughout the day: If you curled your lashes, they are probably still curled. Which is what’s great about this formula. The mascara is very dark (shade Blacquer 30) so your top and bottom lashes are very visibly coated with mascara. It doesn’t rub off on the top of my oily lids! Most mascaras like to leave a second eyebrows below but this one does not! Win!
At the end of the day: Unfortunately, the mascara has started to flake off and has completely disappeared in some spots. Leaving the clumps of course. Here is a quick photo of my lashes after wearing it for about 6 hours:
As you can see, there is little mascara left and a lot of flaking is taking place. The lashes on the outer corner are bare – normally, they have the most mascara on. Taking it off is really easy – I like to use my Makeup Eraser. It comes off like a charm.
Overall – I like that it keeps my lashes curled but I don’t know if I like the dry formula. I picked it up because I love that brissly brush but with this formula, it doesn’t really work. I think this one might be going back to Sephora and I’m going to pick up the Velvet Noir instead.
Have you tried this mascara? Do you have any other mascara recommendations?
